Zucchini rolls

The Zucchini rolls are an extremely versatile dish, to serve as an appetizer in a rich buffet but also as a main course.

A very simple recipe to make, which does not require special skills but that will amaze your guests for its intense and rich flavor although the ingredients needed to make it are really few.

Let’s see together how to prepare zucchini rolls and some useful tips to present them.


  • 3 zucchini
  • 200 g cooked ham
  • 200 g mozzarella
  • breadcrumbs
  • extra virgin olive oil

Cut the ends of the zucchini, wash and dry carefully and then reduce into slices. Make the slices not excessive thickness but not too thin to avoid to break them in rolling up.

Pass the slices in extra virgin olive oil and then in the breadcrumbs. Place them on a pan previously oiled or cover it with baking paper. Cook in a preheated oven at 374°F for about 20 minutes.

Turn the slices halfway through cooking to allow a homogeneous cooking.

Filling with ham and cheese

Once golden, add the slices of zucchini and place on their surface a slice of ham and one of mozzarella. Wrap by holding the opening at the bottom and stopping it with a toothpick.

Put in a preheated oven at 374°F for another 10 minutes or at least until they are golden brown on the surface and the mozzarella has melted perfectly. Serve hot.

Store the zucchini rolls for a maximum of a couple of days in the refrigerator in an airtight container or cover them with food wrap film. Stuff with other cheeses or sausages.
