Independence Day Cupcakes

Muffins are loved by everyone! They are easy to make and can be served in many variations depending on the occasion. They are perfect for a birthday party, for example, or just to have fun with the little ones.

These Independence Day Cupcakes will be perfect to celebrate a very special day, the Fourth of July showing off the American pride.

Red, blue and white are the patriotic colors used to make simple muffins so special to celebrate this important day with your family.

Let’s see together how to make them.


  • 2 cups 00 four
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 8 g baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt

For buttercream frosting

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk

For decorating

  • colored sprinkles

Independence Day Cupcakes


First of all grease the muffin mold or line with baking paper.

Whisk egg, milk, yogurt and oil and in another bowl mix flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and sugar. Mix the mixtures obtained and add some melted butter and salt.

Fill the muffin mold 3/4 full and bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for about 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of a muffin comes out clean.  Let them cool.

Now make the frosting. In a bowl whip the butter until creamy and add the powdered sugar, mil and a pinch of salt. Keep mixing with an electric mixer.

Spoon the frosting just prepared into a piping bag and frost you muffins. Decorate with some colored sprinkles (red and blue). Serve the Independence Day Cupcakes to your guests!


Store the cupcakes for a couple of days.

If you prefer, you can make vanilla muffins and decorate with the frosting. If you want a better result, use some colorants to make white, red and blue layered cupcakes!
