The Fried donuts are ideal sweets for children’s birthday parties, but also for carnival parties or to end a meal in joy.
It is a fairly simple preparation but they are really delicious, greedy and particularly irresistible sweets for the granulated sugar outside the donuts.
Let’s see how to prepare some delicious soft donuts and some useful tips for a really perfect result.
- 2 and 1/2 cups 00 flour
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 8 g yeast
In a bowl or directly on the work surface add the flour, sugar and yeast. Start mixing these ingredients.
Add the water and milk, which must be at room temperature. It is important, that all the ingredients used are at room temperature so leave them out of the refrigerator for at least an hour before starting the preparation so as to facilitate the subsequent leavening.
Add the butter, also softened and left out of the refrigerator, and then salt. Mix all the ingredients well to obtain a perfectly elastic mixture.
Put the dough obtained in a bowl, cover with food wrap film and let rise for at least a couple of hours in the oven off but with light on. The leavening times may vary depending on the season. In fact, in winter, it may be necessary to increase the levitation time (about half an hour), while in the summer it will also be possible to reduce the time. It is important, however, that the initial volume of the dough doubles.
Take back the dough and lay it on the work surface. Take a small portion of it and make a ball. Make a hole in the center of your ball with the index finger and, by inserting the index of the other part of the hole, turn the dough between the two fingers so as to form a ring. Your donuts are ready.
Lay the donut on a baking sheet previously lined with squares of baking paper.
It is important that each donut has its square of baking paper to facilitate subsequent cooking.
In this way, in fact, after leavening, the donut should not be touched with your hands. Simply lay the square of baking paper with the donut directly into the oil.
Put the oven off but with the light on for another hour to rise. Fry in hot oil at about 320-338°F.
Once cooked, put the donut on a sheet of absorbent paper to remove the excess oil and then, when the donut is still hot, pass it in the granulated sugar so as to perfectly sprinkle the whole surface.
Store the fried soft donuts for a maximum of one day in an airtight container. The ideal, however, is to consume them a few hours after their preparation.
