Zucchini rose cake

The zucchini rose cake is a very tasty appetizer, easy to prepare. That is a variation of the classic rose cake, which will leave everyone speechless.

The pizza dough is reduced into strips and filled with sliced zucchini, tomato sauce, mozzarella and parmesan cheese. The result is really wonderful.


  • 1 roll of pizza dough
  • 1 zucchini
  • 200 g mozzarella
  • tomato sauce to taste
  • salt to taste
  • Parmesan cheese

Cut the zucchini into slices not too thick to make easily the roses and to cook the zucchini well. To use slices thicker, grill or fry them first.

Make the mozzarella in strips and prepare the tomato sauce. Open the pizza dough roll and divide it into strips.

Place on each strip your zucchini, press them lightly on the dough before to roll up your roses.

It is important to make just enough visible the zucchini. Sprinkle with salt and tomato sauce.

Place the slices of mozzarella, also not too thick, and fold the lower part of the pasta to cover partially the stuffing just laid down.

Roll the dough from one end with light pressure. In this way, your roses will be really perfect.

Seal by pressing on the dough to cling it for good. Lay the roses on a baking tray covered with baking paper or sprinkle it with non-stick spray.

Sprinkle the zucchini roses with grated Parmesan cheese and place in a preheated oven at 356°F for about 30 minutes. Take them out of the oven when they start to brown on the surface and serve them to your guests. Serve hot.

Store the zucchini rose cake for one day in an airtight container. Heat it in a microwave or in a traditional oven so that it returns perfectly as warm as when you prepared it.

Substitute the zucchini with other vegetables, for example with aubergines, and use the cheese you prefer.
