Crispy Microwave Potato Chips

The Crispy Microwave Potato Chips are an even easier and faster variant to make the classic potato chips. In this case, in fact, the preparation will be simplified by the use of the microwave, which makes cooking much faster but ensuring a crunchy and delicious result just like the classic chips of fried potatoes.

It is an alternative, therefore, healthier to serve to their children but also adults, to accompany an aperitif even as a fanciful side dish.


  • 4 potatoes
  • extra virgin olive oil to taste
  • salt to taste


Wash carefully the potatoes to remove the earth on their peel, peel them and then reduce them to very thin slices.

The thickness of the slices you are going to make is extremely important for the success of this dish. It is important, in fact, that the slices are extremely thin so help yourself with a suitable tool such as a mandoline. In this way you will be sure to have a perfect result and above all to have slices of the same thickness.

Place the potatoes now reduced into slices inside a bowl with very cold water and rinse them several times so that they can lose their starch. At this point, put the potato slices on a well-dried cloth and buffer well so as to eliminate all the water present on their surface. Repeat this process several times until you are sure you have eliminated all the water present.

This operation is extremely important so that your potato chips in the microwave can be very crispy, so reserve a few extra minutes for this operation. Now your potato slices are ready so take a pan , sprinkle with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and cook for about 4 minutes at 800 watts.

Cooking times may vary depending on your oven. Remember that the final result that you will have to get will be some golden potato chips. When you have reached this goal, then, stop cooking and put the potatoes aside to cool.

Sprinkle with salt and serve your potato chips.


Store the Crispy Microwave Potato Chips in the microwave for a maximum of a couple of days if they are kept in a well-sealed food bag. It is very important that the potato slices are all of the same thickness and above all that they are very thin otherwise they will not be crispy at the end of cooking.

Dry the potatoes well to have a final crunchy effect. Serve your potato chips with some sauce to your taste. Add some pepper or paprika to taste spicy chips.
